DD-WRT has pretty much revolutionized routers. Initially a firmware that was released by Linksys, it is now available on numerous different routers. The firmware helps give users more control over the router which they did not have before. Controls over functionalities of the router such as range, signal strength, overclocking, and so on. The best part of DD-WRT is the fact that is an open source. This means people from all over the globe can tweak and play around with it enhancing it. They have full control over the router so they can customize it to ensure they get the optimal performance from their routers. Not only that, it also allows them to increase security to ensure all their data is safe.
If you aren’t too tech savvy than buying a router can be difficult. To help you out, we have reviewed the 3 best DD-WRT routers you can find out in the market today.

Like NETGEAR’s WNR3500L and Linksys AC1200, you get adequate parental controls on the AC1900 that will give you complete control over what your children view online. Unlike those two, it doesn’t have an app for your mobile or tablet that allows you to constantly monitor them. Overall, the AC1900 is easy to use and provides you an open source platform that you can play around with to enhance the router. It is pretty much on par as far as performance goes with the two routers above it, just lacks an app to help you constantly monitor the router.
No matter which one of the three you router to decide to go with. They will all provide you with everything you can ask for in a router, exceptional speed and great coverage. In bigger homes, you may need to consider getting a range extender but that would probably be the case with any typical wireless router. When it comes to DD-WRT the NETGEAR and Linksys router do have a better router interface and which make them a treat to play around with. However, the TRENnet AC1900 was not too hard to get a hang of. So the only thing that separates the three are their respective designs and functionality they offer. We felt that the NETGEAR WNR3500L offered the most and had the best design out of the 3 so therefore was number one on our list.
